Rupert Preissl

Rupert Damascus Preißl (born March 17, 1925 in Eitlbrunn ; † July 4, 2003 in Regensburg ) was a German painter and graphic artist .

Life

Preißl attended high school and then initially trained as a restorer . He completed his artistic training with Hermann Gradl and Constantin Gerhardinger . From 1956 he worked as a freelance artist. This was followed by study and work stays in Germany and other European countries, where he also gave many solo exhibitions. His cityscapes, which are often captured from a bird's eye view, are best known. Many of his pictures are in public and private collections. Especially in the last year of his life he devoted himself more and more to religious motifs.

Preissĺ was a member of the Federal Association of Visual Artists (BBK) Niederbayern / Upper Palatinate , where he was appointed honorary chairman in 2000, and from 1984 to 1996 President of the Upper Palatinate Cultural Association (OKB).

After his death he left behind his wife Edda Ingeborg Preißl (* 1944), who in 2007 donated the Art Prize for German-Czech Understanding on his behalf . In 1996 Edda Preißl received the Golden Badge of Honor from the Upper Palatinate Cultural Association. Rupert Preißl found his final resting place in the Lower Catholic Cemetery in Regensburg's barracks district .
