history

Ruppersthal is mentioned in a document around 1300 as a vicariate . Since 1400 it has been considered a separate parish and that of St. The fortified church , consecrated to Aegidius , dates from the 13th century and was enlarged and baroque in the 16th century . • Pleyel Museum : The Ignaz Josef Pleyel Museum is housed in Pleyel's birthplace next to the high church and is dedicated to the life and work of the composer . It enables insights into his compositional work and it also documents Pleyel's work as a piano maker . The showpieces of the exhibition are two Pleyel pianos: a fortepiano from 1831 (the piano has the opus number 1614) and a square piano (opus number 7134). The museum also functions as a performance space for concerts and chamber music performances in which the music of Pleyel and his contemporaries is performed.
  • Catholic parish church Ruppersthal: The parish church is consecrated to St. Aegidius . This late Gothic staggered church is built on a hill in the center of the village . The three-aisled church consists of a four-bay nave under a steep gable roof . The square east tower, with plastered stone ashlar, round arch and sound windows , was built in the second half of the 19th century. Special features of the tower are the tent roof and the clock gable. The inside of the church is equipped with a baroque high altar and two side altars.
