The Südaue is a 16.2 km long right tributary of the Westaue in the Hanover region in Lower Saxony north of the Deister .
course
In the east of the Eckerde district of the city of Barsinghausen am Deister, the Südaue sets the Levester Bach at the tributary of the Stockbach at 58 m above sea level. NN continued. The Südaue flows in a north-westerly direction through Großgoltern , crosses under the Bundesstrasse 65 , flows through Nordgoltern and Groß Munzel , crosses under the Bundesautobahn 2 , continues through Kolenfeld , crosses under the Mittelland Canal and the Hanover-Minden railway line. Before it crosses under federal highway 442 in the Haster Wald , it gives off part of its water to the Alte Südaue . North of the Haster forest and east of Bokeloh near Wunstorf , the Südaue flows into the Westaue at a height of 43 m above sea level.
The Südaue carries water from the area of the northern Deister and the northern Calenberger Land .
Alte Südaue branch
This is the original course of the river, which in the further course initially crosses the city center of Wunstorf and releases its waters at Blumenau (= based on the course of the western meadow below Wunstorf) at a height of 39 m above sea level into the western meadow. A main part of its water masses was withdrawn from this original course through the construction of a canal-like connection to the Westaue (opening above Wunstorf) in the course of extensive floodplain regulation . Together with other hydraulic engineering measures, this averted the risk of floods that used to be frequent in the city center of Wunstorf.

economy
The Eckerde groundwater works is located in the area where the Südaue arises. The Barsinghausen municipal works pump drinking water from six wells, which is softened during treatment and mixed with resin and Deister water.
