The sports community Quelle Fürth football in TV 1860 e. V. , commonly known as SG Quelle Fürth , is a football club from Fürth in Middle Franconia . Due to the decades of intensive youth promotion, SG Quelle Fürth has been evaluated and awarded by the Bavarian Football Association as a BFV youth performance center (NLZ) since 2010 .

history

From TV 1860 to SG source

On June 1, 1973, the football department of the Turnverein 1860 Fürth and the BSG Schickedanz Fürth ( company sports group of the Quelle Group ) merged to form SG Quelle / 1860 Fürth .

This was the third football club to emerge from the traditional TV 1860. Because as early as 1903, the SpVgg Fürth was founded as a football department within TV 1860 . Because of the limited support from the main association, the SpVgg became independent in 1906.

However, a football section in TV 1860 remained. The Fürth football club emerged from this in 1924 , but returned to the main club in 1930.

Promotion to the regional league

Standing in the shadow of the big Franconian clubs 1. FC Nürnberg and SpVgg Fürth , the success story of the footballers of the SG did not begin until after the merger in 1973. In 1980, a regional league was reached for the first time with the district class and in the following year Quelle Fürth was promoted to the district league. Almost a decade later, in 1988 they were promoted to the Landesliga Mitte , which roughly comprised the Bavarian administrative districts of Middle Franconia , Upper Palatinate and Lower Bavaria . The 1992 descent was immediately followed by a successful period with three ascents in a short time.

Coach Dieter Lieberwirth , former professional and later assistant coach of 1. FC Nürnberg played a decisive role in this . Under his leadership not only succeeded in returning to the regional league in 1993, but even advancing to the Bayern Oberliga in 1995, where he made a direct march through to the South Regional League .

In the 1996/97 season there were encounters with the first teams of 1. FC Nürnberg and SpVgg Greuther Fürth . The duels with these clubs brought an average of 1,211 visitors per home encounter. On the last match day, the last home game of the season took place in front of around 40,000 spectators in Nuremberg's Frankenstadion (where the home game against the club had been avoided due to the large number of spectators on the Nuremberg side) when 1. FC Nürnberg after a 2-1 win against SG Quelle celebrated its return to the 2nd Bundesliga . A few minutes before the end of the game, spectators were running into the field with joy. Only when the club fans backed away could the game be continued and ended. While rival SpVgg Greuther Fürth was able to make the promotion to the 2nd Bundesliga perfect in addition to 1. FC Nürnberg, SG Quelle was relegated at the end of the season with three points behind the saving 15th place in the table as seventeenth. It was not until the penultimate match day that the SG fell to this place.

In 1999, two years later, they returned to the Regionalliga Süd, but this time, too, the club was relegated to tenth place in the table after just one year. The deficit on a non-relegation place was clear, however, because at the end of that season the Regionalliga Süd was merged with the Regionalliga West / Südwest . An average of 258 spectators came to the home games.

District league and regional league

After Dieter Lieberwirth's resignation as coach in 2002 and the interim relegation to the regional league in mid-2003, Reinhard Hofmann returned to the Bavarian Oberliga in 2005 . After the direct relegation to the regional league it went a league lower, so the 1st men's team played in the 2007/08 season under coach Petr Škarabela in the regional upper league Middle Franconia . Despite eleven points behind at the turn of the year, the coach and team managed to achieve second place in the end and in relegation to achieve a promotion to the central regional league, which was no longer considered possible. There the Fürth managed to stay in the league in 2008/09, but after relegation in the following season, the team played again in the regional league in the 2010/11 and 2011/12 seasons under coach Thomas Adler . SG Quelle has been playing in the Northeast Regional League since 2012. Three seasons in a row under the guidance of Thomas Adler. At the beginning of the 2015/16 season he was replaced as coach by Patrick Frühwald , a former regional league player of the club. Over the years, SG Quelle played a good role in the Landesliga Nordost and only just barely missed promotion or relegation to the Bayern League . Since the beginning of the 2018 season, Serdal Gündogan has taken on the position of head coach.
