Sabine Grofmeier (born April 4, 1973 in Marl ) is a German clarinetist who specializes in classical music. She appears as a soloist in the field of orchestral music and as a chamber musician in Germany and in several other countries.

Life

From 1991 to 1996 Sabine Grofmeier studied clarinet with Hans-Dietrich Klaus and Frits Hauser at the Hochschule für Musik in Detmold and completed her studies as a qualified music teacher . From 1996 to 1999 she studied with Stefan Schilling at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Graz . There she passed the artistic maturity examination in 1999 . Further studies followed with Eduard Brunner at the Saar University of Music in Saarbrücken . She also attended master classes with soloists such as Sabine Meyer and Wolfgang Meyer as well as Ralph Manno .

In 1996 the clarinetist received the sponsorship award from the Society for the Promotion of Westphalian Cultural Work in Münster , she was a scholarship holder of the Villa Musica Foundation of the State of Rhineland-Palatinate , the Richard Wagner Society, the Schwetzinger Festival and the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD).

As principal clarinetist, Grofmeier has performed with the Young German Philharmonic , the Philharmonic of Nations and the Bonn Classical Philharmonic under conductors such as Hans Zender , Justus Frantz and Semjon Bytschkow . As a lecturer , she taught at the Villa Denis Foundation House of the Technical University of Kaiserslautern , where she also directs her own chamber music series.

She has been repeatedly invited to Central and South America by the Goethe-Institut Mexico to teach master classes for young musicians at an orchestral academy, such as in 2012 at the Central American Youth Orchestra in El Salvador .

As a soloist, she recorded not only well-known works by famous composers such as Mozart , Schumann or Weber but also some rarities on sound carriers. These include clarinet studies by Carl Baermann and the most recently recorded clarinet concerto by Ignaz Josef Pleyel . In addition, the radio broadcaster WDR3 recorded a live chamber concert from the concerto discreto series with Sabine Grofmeier in January 2016 .

Sabine Grofmeier lives in Hamburg today . Before that she was at home in Mallorca for many years , where she directed the Capdepera International Music Festival .
