Saga Gassia Kouara (also: Saga Gassia Kwara , Saga Gassiya ) is a district ( French : quartier ) in the Arrondissement Niamey IV of the city of Niamey in Niger .

geography

Saga Gassia Kouara is located in the south of the urban parish of Niamey on the Niger River . The neighborhood is part of the historical center of Saga .

history

Saga Gassia Kouara was founded at the end of the 16th century as one of the four oldest neighborhoods in Saga, according to the local chronicle. The other three are Saga Fondobon , Saga Goungou, and Saga Sambou Koira . The founder of Saga Gassia Kouara is Gassia Moussa, a son of the founder of Saga, Moussa Zarmakoye.

At the 2012 census, Saga Gassia Kouara had 6,664 inhabitants who lived in 1,067 households. At the 2001 census, the population was 2,172 in 336 households, and at the 1988 census, the population was 3,286 in 428 households.
