Saga Sahara is a district ( French : quartier ) in the Arrondissement Niamey IV of the city of Niamey in Niger .

geography

Saga Sahara is located in the south of the urban parish of Niamey. It borders the old settlement of Saga to the southwest and the Pays Bas-Tondi Gammé district to the northeast . Saga Sahara lies in a plateau with a layer of sand less than 2.5 meters deep, which means that only limited infiltration is possible.

history

Saga Sahara was created at the turn of the 20th to the 21st century as an extension of Saga. In 2007, on a local initiative, a market was founded in the district - the only one in the wider area - but it did not last long, not least due to infrastructural problems.

population

At the 2012 census, Saga Sahara had 2,439 inhabitants who lived in 387 households.
