Kongou Zarmagandey

Kongou Zarmagandey (also: Kongou Gorou Zarmagandey ) is a village in the Niamey IV arrondissement of the city of Niamey in Niger .

The village, run by a traditional chief (chef traditionnel) , is located in the rural municipality of Niamey on the dry valley of Kori de Ouallam . The surrounding settlements include the hamlet of Gayi Kouara in the north-west, the village of Kongou Gorou in the north-east and the hamlet of Gorou Kaina in the south-west.

Kongou Zarmagandey belonged to Niamey III until the early 21st century before switching to Niamey IV.

At the 2012 census, the village had 672 inhabitants who lived in 78 households. At the 2001 census, the population was 439 in 68 households.

Hundreds of orchards and nurseries stretch between Kongou Zarmagandey and the neighboring village of Kongou Gorou, supplying Niamey with fresh fruit and vegetables. A simple health center (case de santé) was opened in 2004.
