Saga Fondobon (also: Fondobon Saga ) is a district ( French : quartier ) in the Arrondissement Niamey IV of the city of Niamey in Niger .

geography

Saga Fondobon is located in the south of the urban parish of Niamey on the Niger River . The neighborhood is part of the historical center of Saga .

history

According to the local chronicle, Saga Fondobon was founded at the end of the 16th century as one of the four oldest neighborhoods in Saga. The other three are Saga Gassia Kouara , Saga Goungou and Saga Sambou Koira . Mali Moussa, a son of the founder of Saga, Moussa Zarmakoye, is considered the founder of Saga Fondobon.

At the 2012 census, Saga Fondobon had 1,243 residents who lived in 196 households. At the 2001 census, the population was 3,157 in 488 households, and at the 1988 census, the population was 4,374 in 538 households.
