Career

Sassá started his career in the youth team of Botafogo FR in his hometown of Rio de Janeiro . In 2012 he made the leap into the professional squad. In Série A , he played his first professional game against EC Bahia in the 2012 championship round on July 7th . In the home game he came on in the 84th minute for Vítor Júnior . His first goal in an official competition as a professional Sassá scored in the season against local rivals Flamengo Rio de Janeiro . On December 1, 2012, he scored in the 5th minute to make it 1-0 (2-2). In 2013 Sassá played with Botafogo in the state championship in Rio de Janeiro . In the game against Resende FC he came on for Bruno in the 72nd minute and scored the goal to make it 4-2 in the 84th minute . This was his only hit in the three games he was allowed to play in this competition and his contribution to winning the title of the state championship in Botafogo . In the rest of the year, occasional appearances in the championship followed.

The year 2014 started Sassá again with Botafogo in the national championship. But he was loaned to Oeste FC in Itápolis during the ongoing competition . With this Sassá appeared in three games in the Campeonato Paulista . After the competition was held, he competed with Botafogo in the 2014 championship round . In the middle of the season he was loaned to Náutico Capibaribe in Recife . With this he played the rest of the season in the Série B . The following year Sassá played again for Botafogo. After Botafogo finished the 2014 season in nineteenth place in the table, you had to compete in Série B in 2015. At the end of the season you could celebrate the rise as champions of Série B. Sassá contributed seven goals in 22 games.

On June 6, 2017, it was announced that Sassá would join Cruzeiro EC until 2021 . In return, the player Marcos Vinícius was given to Botafogo. Sassá could not contribute to the title win of the Copa do Brasil 2017 by Cruzeiro. He had already played a game in the competition for Botafogo and was therefore not eligible to play. In September 2017, Sassá injured his right knee in the league game against Chapecoense and was operated on in October 2017. It was not operational again until the start of the 2018 season. On March 11, 2018, Sassá played his first game after the injury in the state championship of Minas Gerais . At the beginning of July of that year another knee injury was diagnosed on his left leg, which again made an operation necessary. A downtime of three months was forecast. Sassá made his first appearance after this injury on September 16, 2018. In the derby against Atlético Mineiro , he came on for Raniel in the 75th minute .

Less than two weeks later, Sassá was back in the headlines. In the semi-final second leg of the Copa do Brasil 2018 between Cruzeiro and Palmeiras, the referee pronounced three red cards after the final whistle. In stoppage time of the second half, the defender Cruzeiros Léo had fouled the player Felipe Melo just before the penalty area of Cruzeiro. This resulted in a pack formation that the referee was able to resolve. After the final whistle, there was another argument between the players in midfield. In this Palmeira's player Mayke was violent against Sassá and Léo. Mayke and Sassá, who hit back, received the red card. Likewise, the Palmeiras player Diogo , who was also violent against Lucas Romero . In October, Mayke and Diogo were suspended for two games and Sassá for six games by the STJS sports court. On November 1, the STJS announced that the penalty had been increased to eight game suspension against Sassá. The suspension had expired for the 35th matchday of the championship round and Sassá was able to play again for his club on November 18, 2018 in the game against FC São Paulo (substitution in the 66th minute).

After Cruzeiro's relegation to Série B at the end of the 2019 season , Sassá was loaned to Coritiba FC for 2020 .
