The Sayla District is located in the La Unión Province in the Arequipa region in southwestern Peru . The district has an area of 70.6 km². The 2017 census counted 347 residents. In 1993 the population was 412, in 2007 it was 518. The district administration is located in the approximately 3534 m high village of Sayla with 165 inhabitants (as of 2017). Sayla is 38 km west-southwest of the provincial capital Cotahuasi .
Geographical location
The district of Sayla is located in the Cordillera Volcánica in the far west of the province of La Unión. The Río Marán flows south along the western district boundary .
The district of Sayla borders in the southeast on the district Tauría , in the west on the district Pausa and in the north on the district Corculla (the latter two districts belong to the province of Páucar del Sara Sara ).
