Schöneseiffen is a district in the southwest of Schleiden in the North Rhine-Westphalian district of Euskirchen . The Dieffenbach rises north of the village. About 407 people live in Schöneseiffen. Schöneseiffen is home to a sports field, a community center and a youth room.

Schleiden-Schöneseiffen wind farm

To the west, on the B 258 , is the Schleiden-Schöneseiffen wind farm with 18 wind turbines. In 2014–2015, 12 of the 17 wind turbines of the Tacke TW 1.5 type were replaced by 13 of the Enercon E-101 type with repowering . Together with the remaining Enercon E-82 E2 and the remaining five Tacke TW 1.5 MW, the wind farm with a total output of 49.45 MW is one of the seven largest wind farms in North Rhine-Westphalia .

Dreiborn plateau

Schöneseiffen is located in North Rhine-Westphalia in the Rureifel , west of Schleiden , not far from the border with Belgium on the Dreiborn plateau above the Olef Valley. Within the district of Schöneseiffen, the Hollerscheid elevation is the highest point of the Dreiborn plateau with 622.7 m above sea level.

history

On October 19, 1322, Schöneseiffen was first mentioned in a document together with Bronsfeld and Harperscheid .

Due to § 9 of the Aachen law , the place was incorporated into the city of Schleiden on January 1, 1972.

Nature and recreation

The altitude is interesting for tourists with a wide view over the valley of the Olef, the nearby Eifel National Park, the Dreiborn plateau . The proximity to the Oleftalsperre and the Hellenthal game reserve, the large number of marked hiking trails.
