Schlachthof is the third live album by the band Subway to Sally . It was released on September 5, 2008 on the Nuclear Blast label on CD, DVD and Blu-ray. This is a concert recording from December 28, 2007 from the old slaughterhouse in Dresden. The concert was recorded as part of the Bastard Tour. On September 1st and 2nd, 2008 the DVD was shown in some German cinemas. The band was present at the demonstration in Berlin and Munich. The CD or DVD reached number 23 on the German album charts.

history

Schlachthof contains live recordings of the Bastard Tour, which lasted from November 2007 to September 2008. The concert was recorded in the old slaughterhouse in Dresden. The band used their own equipment and their own technicians to achieve better quality during the concert.

Subway to Sally chose the Alte Schlachthof for their live recording because they particularly liked the location there and there was enough space for the film equipment.

Except for In der Stille and Voodoo , all songs on the studio album Bastard were played. In addition, two pieces were played with Sabbath and Es wird ein Sturm , which were seldom performed live. In addition, the song Umbra is presented on the DVD , which was previously only played live once. The piece Wehe Hour was only interpreted by Eric Fish and Ingo Hampf and his Renaissance lute .

Schlachthof is part of a new concept from Subway to Sally. In the future, at the request of the band, it is planned to publish a live album every two to three years in order to present the “Live band Subway to Sally” to the fans and to document their development.

criticism

The good sound and video quality of the CD / DVD was often praised. The way the band dealt with the fans and the good performance also met with good reviews. However, it was often criticized that the band released another live album too early and that the song selection was too predictable for fans. In addition, the relatively short bonus material was criticized, which is a "quite boring", self-made tour diary. In addition, the relatively moderate pyro show compared to the north-north-east tour did not receive any good reviews, as effects such as the snow cannon were missing.
