Scott MacLeod (born May 17, 1959 in Vancouver , British Columbia ) is a former Canadian ice hockey player who, in the course of his active career between 1976 and 1991, for the EV Landshut in the ice hockey Bundesliga and the Augsburg EV , the EC Hedos Munich and Duisburger SV was active in the 2nd ice hockey Bundesliga .

Career

In 1977 MacLeod started in the highest Canadian youth league Western Canada Hockey League (WCHL) with the Brandon Wheat Kings , quickly moved within the league to the Calgary Wranglers and this season a third time to the New Westminster Bruins . With the Bruins he won the President's Cup and the Memorial Cup in 1978 . With him were among others John Ogrodnick , Ken Berry and Brian Young in the team. In the following season he was the team's best scorer and played with the Canadian team at the 1979 World Junior Championship in Moscow . He then moved to the Japan Ice Hockey League for the 1979/80 season and stayed there for three seasons.

For the 1983/84 season he returned to North America and played for the Salt Lake Golden Eagles in the Central Hockey League (CHL). In his first season he was the best scorer in the league before Dirk Graham and received the Phil Esposito Trophy and Ken McKenzie Trophy as the best newcomer to the league . The CHL was dissolved and the Golden Eagles moved to the International Hockey League . MacLeod was the league's most successful scorer for two years in a row and was awarded the Leo P. Lamoureux Memorial Trophy for this. He was also in the league's First All-Star Team for both years. In his final season in Salt Lake City he also played with Doug Morrison .

For the 1986/87 season MacLeod came to Germany and played for EV Landshut . There he could not fully meet expectations and was replaced by Tim Cranston at the end of the year . MacLeod switched to Augsburger EV and replaced Rick Laycock, who had migrated to Freiburg . In the promotion round to the Bundesliga, he demonstrated his class with 23 goals and 24 assists. In the 1987/88 season he played for the EC Hedos Munich and formed the top duo in the league with Doug Morrison. In his second year he was the best scorer in 17 appearances in the promotion round with 21 goals and 37 assists and played a major role in Munich's promotion to the Bundesliga. In Munich, however, one had the impression that the strong center did not bring the necessary dynamics for the higher division and did not extend his contract. Together with Doug Morrison he moved to HC Meran . After a brief stint at EHC Biel , he returned to Germany during the 1990/91 season . He helped to keep the class for Duisburger SV and ended his career after this season.
