Selendi is a city and a district in the Turkish province of Manisa . The city is located about 130 kilometers east of the provincial capital Manisa .

The district is in the east of the province. It borders on Kula to the south, Demirci to the west and north and the provinces of Kütahya and Uşak to the east . The Selendi Çayı River flows through the district town and flows further west into the Gediz . In the north of the district is the 1511 meter high Yağcı Dağı volcano .

The ancient city of Silandos was probably located near the city . A statue of a mother goddess who lived there was found here. Today this sculpture is in the Izmir Archaeological Museum.
