Shane McRae (born July 23, 1977 in Gainesville , Florida ) is an American actor .

life and career

Shane McRae was born to John and Shane McRae in Gainesville, Florida. His father was a college professor of architecture at Mississippi State University and the College of Architecture and Design at the University in Tennessee. His mother was a teacher at a high school in Starkville , Mississippi , where the family had lived since 1987. McRae has a younger sister and a younger brother. During his school days he was already on stage for school performances and also played football. After graduating from high school, he attended Mississippi State University, where he was also involved in theater productions. After a short time he left the university and instead took a theater degree at the University of Evansville . He later received his Masters from New York University , where he still lives today.

He played his first role in front of the camera in 1998 in a guest appearance on the series Ein Wink des Himmels . In 2004 McRae was involved in a performance of the play Take Me Out , which was performed on Broadway and nominated for a Tony Award . After guest roles in Hack - The Streets of Philadelphia , Love, Lies, Passion and Criminal Intent - Crime in the sights , he starred in the 2006 series Four Kings as Bobby in one of the leading roles alongside Seth Green and Todd Grinnell . McRae then also worked in the Robot Chicken series invented by Green . In 2008 he appeared as Brody in the horror comedy Killer Pad and was in The Collective as Conor in another horror film. In 2011 he played the fiancé, the character played by Emily Blunt , Elise Sellas , in the film The Plan . After appearing in Medium and Gossip Girl , McRae appeared in the role of Raleigh Leefolt in The Help .

In 2013 he starred in the lead role of Josh Shiffman in the rom -com Engagement With Obstacles . He then played a small role as Eric Whaley in the Chicago Fire series . In 2014 he played a supporting role as Robert in the series The Following and appeared in the film drama Still Alice - My Life Without Yesterday as Charly Howland-Jones . In 2015 he took on the role of Taylor Bowman in the series Sneaky Pete , which he played in a leading role until the series finale in 2019. Other series appearances include Manhattan Love Story , Forever , Nashville, and Game of Silence .
