Shingo Suetsugu ( Japanese 末 續 慎 吾 , Suetsugu Shingo ; born June 2, 1980 in Kumamoto ) is a Japanese athlete .

Career

He won a total of six Japanese Championships, two in the 100-meter run (2003-2004) and four in the 200-meter run (2001, 2003 and 2006-2007). When he won the title in 2003, he set the Asian record over 200 meters that is still valid today with a time of 20.03 s (status: May 2009). He also won the gold medal in the 200-meter run at the Asian Games in 2002 and 2006.

In 2003 he won the bronze medal at the World Championships in Paris over 200 meters.

He celebrated another highlight of his career at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing . Together with Naoki Tsukahara , Shinji Takahira and Nobuharu Asahara he was able to win the silver medal in the 4 × 100 m relay . He also competed in the 100 and 200 meter run, but was eliminated here in the quarter and semi-final round.

Shingo Suetsugu has a competition weight of 68 kg with a height of 1.78 m. He starts for the Mizuno Track Club .
