Jirapong Meenapra (born May 11, 1993 in Surat Thani ) is a Thai athlete who specializes in sprinting .

Athletic career

Jirapong Meenapra gained his first international experience at the 2010 Junior Asian Championships in Hanoi , where he finished eighth in the 100-meter run in 11.05 s . So he qualified for the Junior World Championships in Moncton , where he was eliminated with 10.70 s in the lead. He also achieved sixth place in the Thai 4 x 100 meter relay in 40.26 s. He was then at the first held Youth Olympic Games in Singapore in 10.71 s fifth. In November he reached the semi-finals at the Asian Games in Guangzhou , where he was eliminated with 10.52 s. He also won the bronze medal behind the teams from China and Taiwan in 39.09 s. The following year he was eliminated from the Asian Championships in Kobe with 10.70 s in the semifinals and came fifth with the season in 39.72 s. The season thus took part in the World Championships in Daegu , in which they could not qualify for the final with 39.54 s. At the Indoor Asian Championships 2012 in Hangzhou , he was eliminated in the 60-meter run with 6.77 s in the semifinals. He was then at the Junior Asian Championships in Colombo in 10.92 s seventh and won in 40.21 s with the Thai relay. At the Junior World Championships in Barcelona , the season did not reach the final with 39.68 s this time.

In 2013 he retired from the Summer Universiade in Kazan with 10.84 s in the fourth final and was fourth in the season in 39.30 s. At the Southeast Asian Games in Naypyidaw , he won over 100 meters in 10.48 s and over 200 meters in 21.29 s and also with the relay in 39.75 s. The following year he again took part in the Asian Games in Incheon and was eliminated there with 10.51 s in the semi-finals, while he came in fourth with the season after 39.08 s. At the 2015 Asian Athletics Championships in Wuhan , he finished fifth in the relay in 39.98 s and then won the bronze medal in the 200-meter run behind Vietnamese Lê Trọng Hinh and his at the Southeast Asian Games in Singapore in 21.13 s Landmann Jaran Sathoengram and won with the relay in 38.99 s. He also finished fifth over 100 meters in 10.48 s. At the Student World Games in Gwangju , he came fifth with the season in 39.86 s. In 2016 he finished sixth over 60 meters in 6.84 s at the Asian Indoor Championships in Doha . The following year he won the silver medal at the Asian Championships in Bhubaneswar behind the Chinese with the relay in 39.38 s . He then won the relay at the Southeast Asian Games in Kuala Lumpur and won silver over 200 meters behind Trenten Beram from the Philippines, while he had to be content with fourth place over 100 meters. At the Summer Universiade in Taipei he came in fifth with the relay after 39.22 seconds.

In 2019 he reached the semi-finals at the Asian Championships in Doha, where he was eliminated with 10.71 s and won the relay in 38.99 s. At the end of October he reached fourth place in the Wuhan Military World Games with the relay in 39.81 s and then won the Southeast Asian Games in 39.27 s with the relay.
