Ruttanapon Sowan (born January 10, 1994 ) is a Thai athlete who specializes in sprinting .

Athletic career

Ruttanapon Sowan gained his first international experience at the World Youth Championships in 2011 near Lille , where he was eliminated in the 100-meter run and the sprint relay (1000 meters) in the first round, while he reached the semi-finals over 200 meters, in which he was 21 , 84 s eliminated. The following year he won the 4 x 100 meter relay in 40.21 s at the Junior Asian Championships in Colombo and did not reach the final at the Junior World Championships in Barcelona with 39.68 s. In 2013 he reached fourth place at the Summer Universiade in Kazan with the relay in 39.30 s and won the Southeast Asian Games in Naypyidaw with the relay in 39.75 s. The following year he retired in the 60-meter run at the Asian Indoor Championships in Hangzhou with 6.92 s in the lead. In October he took part in the Asian Games in Incheon for the first time and was eliminated there with 10.54 s in the semifinals, while he finished fourth with the season after 39.08 s. In 2015 he won the Southeast Asian Games in Singapore with the relay in 38.99 s and came fifth in the student world games in Gwangju in 39.86 s with the relay. In 2017 he was used in the relay competition at the Asian Championships in Bhubaneswar ; the season later won the silver medal. In 2019 he won the Asian Championships in Doha with the relay in 38.99 s. He then did not make it to the finals at the World Relays in Yokohama in 38.82 s and was eliminated from the Summer Universiade in Naples with 10.64 sim lead time. In December he won the silver medal behind the Malaysian Muhammad Haiqal Hanafi at the Southeast Asian Games in Capas in 10.49 s and won the relay in 39.27 s.
