Sieglitz is a district of the municipality of Molauer Land in the Burgenland district in Saxony-Anhalt .

geography

Sieglitz is about 13 km southwest of Naumburg (Saale) , 23 km northeast of Jena and 4 km east of Camburg directly on the border with Thuringia.

history

In 1291 Sieglitz was first mentioned in a document from the Heusdorf monastery .

Until its dissolution in the 19th century, Sieglitz was under the administration of the Wettin Office of Camburg . Due to several divisions in the course of its existence, this belonged to different Ernestine duchies . In 1826 Sieglitz came with the Camburg office from the Duchy of Saxe-Gotha-Altenburg to the Duchy of Saxe-Meiningen and became part of the Camburg exclave. From 1922 to 1939 Sieglitz belonged to the Thuringian district department Camburg . Until 1952 Sieglitz belonged to Thuringia . During the territorial reform of 1952 in the GDR , the place came from the disbanded Jena district to the Naumburg district in the Halle district .

On July 1, 1961, the previously independent community of Sieglitz was incorporated into Molau. With the merger of the previously independent municipalities of Abtlöbnitz , Casekirchen , Leislau and Molau to form the new municipality of Molauer Land , Sieglitz has been one of eleven districts of this municipality since January 1, 2010.

Economy and Infrastructure

traffic

The federal highway 88 from Jena to Naumburg (Saale) runs 3 km west of the place. Until the partial closure in 1945, the place was surrounded on several sides by the Zeitz – Camburg railway line , from 1945 to 1965 the end point of the line to Zeitz was in the neighboring town of Molau.

The on Romanesque built foundations dating back to 1707 church with a baroque organ (now unfortunately without organ ) received its highly visible tower around 1844. The church and rectory are associated as cultural monuments under preservation . On the southern outskirts of Sieglitz, on the site of a post mill built in the 19th century, there is a Dutch windmill built in 1935 , the wings of which fell victim to a storm decades ago. A historic Waidmühlstein is the center of the central intersection opposite the entrance to the churchyard.

education

The Thomas Müntzer Elementary School is an educational facility in the district.
