Type 104a ( ruby )

The type 104 is a river seagoing ship type from the Sietas shipyard in Hamburg-Neuenfelde .

history

The series was manufactured from 1978 to 1987. The Rhine-See ships are mainly used in small and medium-sized voyages. Depending on the version (104, 104a, 104b, 104c and 104d), they have different lengths and transport capacities as well as differently shaped stems . The Widor was delivered with stainless steel tanks built into the shipyard. Some ships were retrofitted to tankers.

technology

The Fast Ann (formerly Saphir ) in tow for scrapping

All ships of the series are river-accessible and have hydraulically lowerable wheelhouses and folding masts. Their ice-reinforced hulls were created using a sectional construction . With the exception of the Widor , which was subsequently created in 1987, they are powered by an eight-cylinder four-stroke diesel engine made by Klöckner-Humboldt-Deutz, which has been throttled to 441  kW . On most ships, it acts on a fixed propeller via a reduction gear , some units have a controllable pitch propeller . An electrically powered bow thruster with an output of 132 kW is available for berthing and casting off maneuvers .

The type 104 ships are uniformly 11.30 m wide, but have different lengths and transport capacities depending on the version. The box-shaped cargo space (box-shaped) for the transport of containers and heavy reinforced and has four removable Scots , also known as steerage can be used. Depending on the design, folding hatch covers or stackable “piggy-back” hatch covers were used. With the exception of Stephanie Siemer (modified type 104a), Widor (type 104c) and Birgit Jürgens (type 104d), all ships of the series were measured with 499 GRT and a deadweight of around 1,600  dwt on delivery .

Type 104

The basic type 104 was 73.09 m long (69.82 m Lpp ) and 5.20 m high from the keel to the upper deck . 70 20-foot standard containers (TEU) could be stowed on board, 42 of them below deck. The hatch size of the ships was 43.18 m × 9.00 m. The type ship Condor had a maximum draft of 3.39 m and a grain volume of 2,152 m³ (2,123 m³ ball space). In 1983, they were converted by installing six stainless steel tanks in the hold for the transport of kaolin sludge (china clay). In 1994 a new measurement was carried out with 1,252  GT , 464 NRZ and a load capacity of 1,623 dwt. The Condor was converted into an edible oil tanker in 1998. The second ship of the basic type 104, the Angela Jürgens , had a maximum draft of 3.32 m and a grain volume of 2,165 m³ (2,161 m³ ball space). Both units had a KHD diesel engine of the type RSBA 8 M 528.

Type 104a

The subtype 104a has a length of 85.83 m (81.97 m Lpp). The height from the keel to the upper deck is 5.20 m, the maximum draft is 3.48 m. In the 1990s, the ships with 1,740 GT and a deadweight of around 1,990 dwt were re-measured. They have a grain volume of around 3,260 m³ (3,247 m³ bale space) and a container capacity of 90 TEU. The Stephanie Siemer differs from the other units of the Type 104a. She is a sister ship of the Birgit Jürgens (type 104d) and like this ship is 6.00 m high from the keel to the upper deck. Upon delivery, the ship was measured with 830 GRT, a maximum draft of 3.95 m and a deadweight of 2,422 dwt.

Type 104b

The subtype 104b has a length of 80.94 m (77.77 m Lpp) and is 5.40 m high from the keel to the upper deck. The draft is 3.30 m. The ships were re-measured in the 1990s with 1,441 GT and a deadweight of 1,795 dwt. They have a container capacity of 80 TEU and a grain volume of 2,444 m³ (2,425 m³ bale space).

Type 104c

The single ship Widor , built in 1987, was commissioned to transport kaolin sludge (china clay). It is based on the sub-type 104b, but was given its own type designation due to the two stainless steel tanks installed in the hold in the shipyard. In addition, in contrast to the other ships , the Widor has a six-cylinder four-stroke diesel engine of the type Klöckner-Humboldt-Deutz SVB 6 M 628 with an output of 599 kW. She is 80.90 m long (77.77 m Lpp) and 5.40 m high from the keel to the upper deck. The Widor was measured with 499 GRT and a load capacity of 1,635 dwt on delivery. In 1994 there was a new measurement with 1,412 GT. The built-in kaolin tanks were removed when the ship was resold in 2004.

Type 104d

After the delivery of the Stephanie Siemer (modified type 104a), the type designation 104d was introduced for an identical ship. The Birgit Jürgens as the Stephanie Siemer 85.83 m long (81.97 m Lpp, 84.17 m freeboard length) and from the keel to the upper deck 6.00 m (4.23 m to the measuring deck ). It was originally measured at 857 GRT, a deadweight of 2,422 dwt and a maximum draft of 3.96 m. The grain volume is 3,256 m³ (3,228 m³ ball space). In 2001, the ship was converted into an edible oil tanker with a tank capacity of 2,491 m³ and then re-measured with 1,756 GT and 2,208 dwt.
