In her artistic work, Silvia Siemes focuses on a classic sculpture theme: the human figure. The sculptural approach of her works made of engobed terracotta is characterized by a relaxed directness, an irritating this-sidedness that is underlined by careful abstraction and restrained coloring.

The figures act cautiously distant and refuse any pathos. The physiognomy fluctuates between typification and portraiture. Expressivity in expression, in gestures, is deliberately avoided by the artist in favor of inner calm: everyday life is implied. Silvia Siemes' protagonists assert themselves through a self-focused presence.
