Simon Robert Kroon (born June 16, 1993 ) is a Swedish football player . The offensive player, who has been under contract in his home country and Denmark in his career so far, has twice won the Swedish championship with Malmö FF .
Career
Kroon started playing football at Limhamns IF . In 2005 he moved to the junior division at Malmö FF. In the 2011 season he temporarily moved up to the squad of the first division team and made his debut in the Allsvenskan in the summer of that year . He initially stayed in the squad and ultimately played eight games this season, but in the following season he was mainly active again in the youth and reserve area.
In the course of the 2013 season, Kroon sat in the squad of the first division team, although coach Rikard Norling primarily used him as a substitute - he was only in one of his 17 league games in the championship season. Nevertheless, he moved into the focus of those responsible at Svenska Fotbollförbundet and was included in the Swedish U-21 selection team . Under Norling's successor Åge Hareide , he was increasingly in the starting line-up and reached the group stage of the UEFA Champions League for the first time in the club's history in summer 2014 with the team around Magnus Eriksson , Markus Halsti , Isaac Kiese Thelin , Emil Forsberg and Markus Rosenberg . There he came on several times as a substitute and scored a goal in the 2-4 defeat at Olympiacos , but retired with the team as the bottom of the group. At the same time he defended the championship title with the team, where he was nine times in the starting XI in his 19 appearances. Again he reached the group stage of the Champions League with the team in the season 2105/16 , again only the role of the supplementary player remained for him.
After Kroon only played six games in the Allsvenskan in the 2015 season , he left Malmö FF at the end of the year when his contract expired and joined the Danish club Sønderjysk Elitesport . In the super league he was quickly a regular player and played 15 games by the end of the season. He finished the season as runner-up behind FC Copenhagen .
