Simona Waltert (born December 13, 2000 in Chur ) is a Swiss tennis player .
Career
Simona Waltert, born in Chur, started playing tennis at a young age. At the age of 7 she played her first tournament in Bad Ragaz . In 2011 Waltert was accepted into the national C-squad of Swiss Tennis . In the following year she won the Swiss U-12 winter championships and was number one in the 2000 class in the Swiss tennis rankings in the same year.
In June 2017 she reached an individual final of an ITF tournament in Lenzerheide for the first time , which she lost in just three sets against the Italian Georgia Brescia . At the Junior French Open 2017 , she took part in a Grand Slam tournament for women for the first time, but lost her first round game against Whitney Osuigwe . At Wimbledon , Waltert was also on the main tableau for the singles and doubles competition. In singles she reached the semi-finals, which she lost to Ann Li in straight sets. In doubles, she was eliminated from Ylena In-Albon's side in the round of 16.
