action

Jane F. lives in Los Angeles in a shared flat with her weird roommate Steve. Jane studied business administration but works as an actress and regularly uses marijuana , which bothers her roommate.

The film begins with a scene in which Jane finds herself on the top of a ferris wheel, after which the action jumps back to 9 o'clock on the same day as Jane plays smoking weed on the computer. When she goes to the fridge with a binge eating, she finds tasty-looking cupcakes that her roommate baked for a science fiction convention, and devours them all. Without knowing it, there was baked marijuana in the cupcakes, which accidentally made her even more intoxicating.

Previously, she had compiled a list of tasks that she is now trying to work through. She uses the money that was earmarked for paying the electricity bill with her dealer Steve to bake new cupcakes. But she cannot pay him off in full. That's why she is supposed to appear at the hemp festival in Venice at 3 p.m. and give him the remaining money there, otherwise he and his people would seize their furniture. But before that she wants to attend an interview. The plan for the day sounds good, but Jane's condition doesn't allow her to tackle even the smallest of everyday problems.

When Jane tries to bake new cupcakes, she is distracted by a phone call and the precious marijuana is burning on the stove. But she has a reserve of high quality marijuana that she wants to sell at a high price to pay off her debts. She messed up the interview when she wanted to sell her weed to the boss. When the boss calls the police, she escapes and destroys her reserve by flushing it down the toilet in the building to destroy the evidence. After unsuccessful phone calls, all that remains is the help of her annoying admirer Brevin Ericson, a friend of her roommate. He picks her up and wants to lend her the 500 dollars she needs, but doesn't have that much cash with him and he has to go to the dentist's appointment before they can go to the bank. When he forgot his wallet on the dashboard of the parked car, a thief broke the window and stole it. A police officer summoned up unsettled the stoned Jane so much that she ran away head over heels.

She takes refuge in the house of Professor Peter Howard, whom she knows well, and encourages his wife Shirley to be the expected new assistant to her husband, who is currently absent, whereupon she gives her an original German edition of the communist manifesto of 1848. This extremely valuable manifesto is to be put in the professor's safe, but Jane wants to sell it to solve all of her problems. She is discovered by one of the residents in a strange laundry room in one of the neighboring houses where she is looking at the manifesto. He feels disturbed by her and finally calls the police.

Jane escapes again and spots a meat truck with an open loading area that she is sure would go to Venice, where the hemp festival takes place. But the van drives to El Monte to a meat factory, where she pretends to be the union chairman in order to avoid trouble because of unauthorized intrusion and talks to herself about the industrial oppression of the workers until she is kicked out by the department head. Then she takes a ride to the hemp festival in Venice. There she arrives too late and misses her dealer Steve. At Venice Beach she finds tickets for the ferris wheel and drives it. When her persecutors show up, she throws down the communist manifesto in order to return it, but it tears in the air and its pages fly around everywhere.

Meanwhile, your roommate Steve comes back and finds the apartment almost empty. He sees that his cupcakes have been finished, the burnt marijuana in the pan and that the electricity has been turned off. Jane was sentenced to five years probation and 1,500 hours of community service. The film ends with Jane guarding the roadside with other detainees by a sheriff, cleaning the roadside from garbage.
