Reviews

Robert Koehler wrote in the magazine Variety on December 19, 2000 that the “quasi-metaphysical western revenge” remains as “deceptive” as the distant mirage of a long train. He would lack the sharpness, uniform tone, rhythm and brevity that would make a slim, convincing adventure film out of him. He borrowed elements from other films like Rio Bravo , Two Bandits and Pat Garrett chasing Billy the Kid without animating them. The images and the feelings would not match ( “But there's no grace to the interplay of images and emotions” ), the result seems like an “exaggerated horse opera” .

Kevin Thomas wrote in the Los Angeles Times on December 15, 2000 that the film was too long and contained too much material ( "Overlong, overwritten" ). The critic praised the “beautiful, elegiac” film music and the “startling” camera work.

background

The film was shot in Benson, Arizona , Mescal, Arizona, and the San Raphael Valley, Arizona. Its world premiere took place on January 28, 2000 at the Slamdance Film Festival . The film grossed around 17,000 US dollars in selected US cinemas .
