European Squash Championship 2016

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The 16 Squash Championships in individual ( english European Individual Closed Championships ) took place from 7 to 10 September 2016 Hector Sports Center in Prague instead. The organizers were the Česká asociace squashe and the European Squash Federation .

The defending champions were Grégory Gaultier for the men and Camille Serme for the women. While Serme was again European champion with a four-set win over Nele Gilis , Gaultier lost the final against Borja Golán in five sets. Golán became European champion for the first time.

The field of participants in the men's competition consisted of 32 players, that of the women's competition consisted of 26 players. A wildcard was not awarded. There was no prize money or world ranking points at the European Championship. In both fields, positions three and four, positions five to eight and - only for men - positions nine to 16 were placed in the form of a grouped setting.
