European Squash Championship 2017

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The 17 Squash Championships in individual ( english European Individual Closed Championships ) found from 24 to 27 August 2017 at the University of Nottingham in Nottingham instead. The organizers were England Squash and the European Squash Federation .

Last year's winners were Borja Golán for men and Camille Serme for women. Golán was eliminated in the semifinals that year against James Willstrop , who became European champion for the first time in his career. In the final he defeated the record winner of this tournament, Grégory Gaultier , with 7:11, 11: 8, 11: 8, 2:11 and 11: 8. For Gaultier it was already the 13th European Championship final. In the women's category, Camille Serme secured her sixth title in a row without losing a set. She defeated Millie Tomlinson 11-1, 11-3 and 11-3 in the final .

The field of participants in the men's competition consisted of 24 and that of the women's competition of 18 players. A wildcard was not awarded. There was no prize money or world ranking points at European championships. In both fields, positions three and four, positions five to eight and - only for men - positions nine to 16 were placed in the form of a grouped setting.
