Oldorf is a district of the municipality of Wangerland in the district of Friesland in the north of Lower Saxony .

geography

The village of Oldorf is located in Jeverland . The North Sea coast is ten kilometers to the north. The jade with access to the North Sea flows east ten kilometers away. The place is 16 kilometers northwest of Wilhelmshaven , four kilometers west of the road that leads from Wilhelmshaven via Hooksiel to Horumersiel and Schillig . Oldorf is on the K 87 from Jever to Hohenkirchen .

St. Mary's Church

St. Marien Church Oldorf

The Evangelical Lutheran Church of St. Mary, dating from the 13th century, is a single-nave brick building with a granite ashlar base . Around 1500 it was extended to the east by an equally wide choir . The west wall was renewed in 1768. The bell tower in the southeast was rebuilt in 1912 based on the model of the old tower. Two old bells hang in the tower, a bell from 1450, Ø 0.90 m, cast by Ghert Klinghe , and a bell from 1521, Ø 0.70 m, cast by Joh. Von Cappeln.
