St. Andrä (Brixen)
St. Andrä (locally also called St. Anders ; Italian Sant'Andrea ) is a fraction of the South Tyrolean town and municipality of Brixen in Italy .

St. Andrä is located on the eastern flank of the Eisack Valley on a low mountain range of Bressanone's local mountain Plose at 970 m slm. St. Andrä is the valley station of the Plosebahn , which leads to the Plose ski area. In addition, the ascent to the Würzjoch , which connects the Eisack Valley with the Gadertal , begins in St. Andrä .
history
The parish of St. Andrä was first mentioned in 1174 when it was donated to the Brixen hospital. In the following 500 years, various churches were consecrated in St. Andrä and the surrounding villages of Karnol (St. Johannes Chapel, consecrated by Bishop Hartmann von Brixen on March 20, 1141 ), St. Leonhard, Mellaun and Plabach. In 1809, as a result of the Tyrolean uprising, some "Berger" (including Johann Kircher) were shot on the Domplatz in Brixen. The Monstrolerhof and St. Valentine's Church were also burned down. The famous composer Vinzenz Goller was born in St. Andrä in 1873 as the son of a teacher. 30 years later the road from Brixen to the village and to St. Leonhard was completed. In the time of fascism catacomb schools were set up in many farms , in which the children were taught in German , since in the public schools only teaching in Italian was allowed. In 1979 the partnership between Marquartstein and St. Andrä was sealed.
Personalities
St. Andrä is the birthplace of the composer Vinzenz Goller (1873–1953) and the South Tyrol activist Anton Gostner (1923–1962) as well as the hometown of the medical technician Hubert Egger (1964).

The parish church of St. Andrew
The Church of St. Andrew is located in the main town of St. Andrä and has a small cemetery. The originally Romanesque church was rebuilt in the late Gothic style in 1459 . In the 18th century the then Gothic building was redesigned in Baroque style . Jakob Jennewein painted the church clock outside and created the colorful and moving ceiling paintings inside . Around the year 1770 the church received by Franz Singer , a stucco . In 1930 it had to be completely renovated.
Club life
There are several clubs in the village, such as the amateur sports club (ASC) Plose, the shooters , the volunteer fire brigade and the band.
