St. Maria Magdalena (Ettenhausen an der Nesse)
The Evangelical Lutheran branch church of St. Maria Magdalena is located on Lindenplatz in Ettenhausen an der Nesse , a district of the Hörselberg-Hainich community in the Wartburg district of Thuringia . It bears the name of Saint Mary Magdalene , who was a companion of Jesus . The parish Melborn with the community part Ettenhausen an der Nesse with Mary Magdalene Church belongs to the parish area Melborn I in the church district Eisenach-Gerstungen the Evangelical Church in Central Germany .

The essentially Romanesque hall church with choir tower was rebuilt in 1554, as evidenced by the window opening with quatrefoil on the upper floor of the tower, as well as an inscription in the cladding of a window. In 1706 there were again alterations, mainly the church furnishings . The massive tower, in which there is a bell from 1408, is covered with a curly dome topped with a lantern . On the south side of the top floor of the tower, set off by a cornice, is a coupled , rectangular framed window, surmounted by a three-pass . The rectangular nave is covered with a gable roof. The interior has a flat ceiling with sloping sides. On its north side are two-story galleries . The retracted chancel behind the Romanesque triumphal arch is covered with a barrel vault. The pulpit basket from 1706 has columns at the corners of the parapet , the capitals of which are decorated with angels' heads. In the field in between there are baroque ornaments .
The organ on the single-storey gallery in the west has 18 registers , divided into 2 manuals and pedal . It was built in the 18th century by an unknown organ builder .
Of the paintings on the galleries, a field with the depiction of the Evangelist Matthew is currently exposed. He is accompanied by an angel. The pulpit , which is decorated with columns and angel heads, dates from the early 18th century . Statues of the evangelists once stood in four empty wall niches .
