The Church of St. Martin is the Roman Catholic branch church of Faulungen , a district of the rural municipality of Südeichsfeld , which is in the Unstrut-Hainich district in Thuringia . The filial community Faulungen belongs to the parish Lengenfeld unterm Stein in the deanery Dingelstaedt of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Erfurt .

The previous building was mentioned as early as 1611. Today, located on the upper village hall church was built from 1753 to 1756. The small baroque church was dedicated to St. Martin . The three-axis building is structured by pilasters and has a five-sided end of the choir . The nave is covered with a flat gable roof. The roof tower in the west has a curved dome crowned with a lantern . On March 9, 2010, the old bell was lowered from the roof tower. Then a new bell cage was built and the new bell hung. Above the portal in the south is a relief with Saint Martin from around 1752 . The three bays of the interior are covered with a cross vault. The belt arches rest on wall templates .

The high altar from the middle of the 18th century comes from the Reifenstein monastery . The altarpiece shows the Annunciation . It is flanked by statues of Margaret and Catherine . The crucifixion is shown on the antependium from 1841 . The baptismal font was built around 1600, the pulpit in the middle of the 18th century. The carved Pietà from the 3rd quarter of the 14th century was added during the restoration.

The organ with 12 registers , divided into 2 manuals and pedal , was built in 1974 by Rudolf Kühn.

Around 1980 the church was renovated.
