State road 15

The Finnish state road 15 ( Finnish. Valtatie 15 , Swedish. Riksväg 15 ) leads from Kotka to Mikkeli . Its length is 158 kilometers.

State road 15 begins in the port town of Kotka on the south coast of Finland and heads north through the Kymenlaakso landscape via Kouvola to Mikkeli . Between Kotka and the city limits of Hamina , it follows the motorway-like route of State Road 7 . South of Ristiina , it joins State Road 13 , which it follows to its end in the center of Mikkeli.

State road 15 runs through the following municipalities: Kotka - (Hamina) - (Kotka) - Kouvola - ( Mäntyharju ) - ( Suomenniemi ) - Ristiina - Mikkeli.

history

State road 15 was established in 1938 between Vyborg and the border to Russia near Saint Petersburg. After the Second World War the border was moved. This made number 15 free. In the 1960s, today's Staatsstrasse 15 was formed.
