Stanau is a district of the city of Neustadt an der Orla in the Saale-Orla district in Thuringia .
Geography and geology
Stanau is located northwest of Neustadt an der Orla on the winding road 1077, which overcomes differences in altitude, towards Stadtroda and Jena via Trockenborn-Wolfersdorf . This road also connects the neighboring towns with the federal highway 281 to the federal highway 9 with connection at Triptis . The village, now part of the town of Neustadt an der Orla , lies in a depression in a plateau of the Saale-Elster sandstone slab and is surrounded by meadows and fields and then by forest. Neighboring towns are to the south of Breitenhain and Strößwitz , to the west of Trockenborn-Wolfersdorf, to the north of Meusebach and to the east of Rattelsdorf .
history
The first written mention of the place Stanau (Skanove) comes from the year 1071. This date is also confirmed by Wolfgang Kahl. The inhabitants of the village were and are involved in the maintenance of the landscape and the use of nature.
On January 1, 2019, the Stanau community was incorporated into the city of Neustadt an der Orla. Neustadt an der Orla was previously a fulfilling municipality for Stanau.
