Stefán Hrafnsson (born May 11, 1983 ) is a former Icelandic ice hockey player who was last under contract with Skautafélag Akureyrar in the Icelandic ice hockey league until 2015 .

Career

Stefán Hrafnsson began his career as a hockey player in Akureyri at the local Skautafélag Akureyrar , for whom he made his debut in the Icelandic ice hockey league in the 2000/01 season . After becoming Icelandic champions with the club in 2001, 2002 and 2003 , he went to Ísknattleiksfélagið Björninn in the capital Reykjavík. After only a year he moved to local competitor Skautafélag Reykjavíkur , with whom he won the Icelandic title in 2006 and 2007. In 2008 he returned to Akureyri and was able to win the championship again with the club in 2010, 2011, 2013, 2014 and 2015. Following the last title, he ended his career.

International

In the junior division, Stefán Hrafnsson took part in Iceland's U18-D European Championship in 1998 , the U18 World Championship in European Division 2 in 1999 and 2000 and in 2001 in the qualification for Division III of the U18 World Championship and the U20 D World Championship in 1999 and 2000 and after switching to the current division system in 2001, participated in the qualification for Division III of the U20 World Cup , in the U20 World Cup in Division III in 2002 and in the U20 World Cup in Division II in 2003 .

At the same time, Stefán Hrafnsson already played in the men's national team . He made his debut at the age of 17 at the 2001 World Cup when he played with the Icelanders in Division II. Also in 2002 , 2003 , 2005 , 2007 , 2008 , 2009 , 2011 and 2013 he played in Division II. After relegations in the meantime, he played in Division III in 2004 and 2006 , but in each case the immediate promotion was successful.
