Stefano Denswil (born May 7, 1993 in Zaandam , North Holland Province ) is a Dutch football player . He mostly runs in the defensive chain and has been under contract with the Italian first division club FC Bologna since summer 2019 .

Club career

Ajax Amsterdam

Until his promotion to the second team of Ajax Amsterdam , which is known as Jong Ajax, Stefano Denswil went through the youth teams of Ajax. He made his debut on September 12, 2011 in the 5-2 win over the second team of NEC Nijmegen . In this victory, he also contributed his first goal for Jong Ajax with the interim 3-0 in the 53rd minute.

In the 2012/13 season Denswil made his debut for the first team of Ajax Amsterdam when he was used by coach Frank de Boer in the 2-0 win against ONS Sneek in the third round of the KNVB Cup . In this game he was able to achieve the 2-0 final score in the 88th minute and thus his first goal for Ajax Amsterdam. He made his Eredivisie debut on November 3, 2012 in the 2-0 defeat by Vitesse Arnhem . During the season he was allowed to play three more games and at the end of the season he celebrated winning the Eredivisie with his teammates.

On September 18, 2013, Denswil made his debut in international club football when they lost 4-0 to FC Barcelona in the group stage of the 2013/14 UEFA Champions League . He scored his first goal in the Champions League in a 1-1 draw against AC Milan on October 1, 2013, when he had put his team in the lead in the 90th minute. On March 30, 2014, he scored his first league goal in a 3-0 win against FC Twente Enschede when he was able to score the interim 1-0 in the 29th minute. With this goal and his missions he participated in the defense of the championship title. In addition, Denswil and his teammates were able to reach the final of the KNVB Cup , which they lost 5-1 to PEC Zwolle .

Club Bruges

On January 4, 2015 Stefano Denswil moved to the Belgian first division club FC Bruges and made his debut on January 25, 2015 in a 3-0 win against local rivals Cercle Bruges . With the team from Bruges, he was able to take first place in the regular season. After the championship round, she finished second, making her runner-up in the 2014/15 season . After they won the semifinal duels against Cercle Bruges, in which Denswil was involved, with 5: 1 and 3: 2, they moved into the final and won it 2: 1 against RSC Anderlecht . The following season Denswil made a UEFA Europa League debut in the group stage in a 1-1 draw with KP Legia Warsaw on October 22, 2014 . Bologna FC

In the summer of 2019, Denswil moved to the Italian first division club FC Bologna and signed a contract with a term of three years.

National team career

Since 2007 he has played in all youth national teams in the Netherlands from U-15. In the U-17 he scored one hit and in the U-20 two. Most recently he played for the U-21 national team of the Netherlands between 2013 and 2014 and played a total of seven games.
