history

The hamlet was founded in the 18th century, and today there are still two manors from this period. Most of the residents were full-time farmers, the products were mainly delivered to the dairy in Vöcklamarkt that existed at the time . In 1917 a blacksmith from the neighboring village of Siedling froze to death in a snow storm at the entrance to the village; A martyr was erected there in memory .

economy

There are still two farms in the village, one of which has an attached grocery store.

Infrastructure

Stein can be reached by car from the west via a supply route to Genstetten and then via the state road 1274 and from the east via a supply route to Weiterschwang. Many commuters who commute from the western part of the community of Gampern to the east to Timelkam, Vöcklabruck etc. take the route through Stein instead of the route via the former federal highway 1 , which has led to an increase in traffic in the village. The neighboring villages of Siedling in the north and Reichersberg in the southeast can still only be reached via dirt roads.

There are some recreational bike and riding trails as well as a hiking trail through the village.
