The Stena Superfast X is a Stena Line ship .

history

The ship was built under the hull number 360 at Howaldtswerke-Deutsche Werft in Kiel for the Superfast Ferries shipping company . The keel was laid on June 29, 1999, the launch on August 25, 2001. The ship was christened on February 7, 2002 . The godmother was Patricia Lederer, the wife of the CEO of Howaldtswerke-Deutsche Werft. The ship, which was put into service as Superfast X , was completed on February 26, 2002.

The ship was initially used by Superfast Ferries in the Baltic Sea between Rostock and Södertälje and from May of that year on the newly established route between Rosyth and Zeebrugge .

The ship was sold in August 2006 and delivered to the new owner in early 2007. It was subsequently used as Jean Nicoli by SNCM and by various charterers, mainly in the Mediterranean . At the end of 2007 the ship was sold to SeaFrance and from August 2008 it was used as Seafrance Moliere between Dover and Calais. After SeaFrance had ceased operations in November 2011, the ship was initially launched in Dunkerque .

In July 2012, the ship was sold again and initially renamed Moliere . In October 2012 it was chartered to DFDS Seaways and used as Dieppe Seaways on the Calais - Dover route.

Early 2015 was the ship Stena Superfast X renamed. Stena Line continued the ship on the Holyhead - Dublin route , replacing the Stena Nordica . The ship was converted in Gdynia for this purpose . At the same time, the only ship used on the Holyhead - Dun Laoghaire route, the Stena Explorer , was withdrawn from the route and the route was discontinued. In January 2020 it was replaced on the route by the Stena Estrid and was then used on the Belfast - Cairnryan , Rosslare - Cherbourg and Holyhead - Dublin routes until February 2020 .

The ship has been chartered by Corsica Linea since February 2020 . From March 2020 she sailed under the flag of Cyprus with her home port Limassol . From March to June 2020 the ferry in Piraeus was rebuilt. In June 2020, the Stena Superfast X was renamed A Nepita , which has since been sailing under the French flag with its home port Ajaccio .

Incidents

On May 1, 2014, a fire broke out in the engine room of the Dieppe Seaways in the port of Dover , caused by overheating of the engines. All 316 passengers were able to be evacuated, but 7 crew members and 3 firefighters were slightly injured. The ship was then taken out of service as a precaution, but could be used again after a few days.

Technical specifications

The ship is powered by four Wärtsilä - diesel engines (type: 16ZA40S) with a total output of 46,000  kW driven. The motors act on two variable pitch propellers via reduction gears . For the power supply are two wave generators and four MAN B & W - diesel generators (type 8L28 / 32H) are available.

The hull is reinforced with ice and the ship is classified as ice class 1A.
