from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Stephanie Guse (born January 21, 1971 in Bielefeld ) is a German artist and designer .

life and work

Guse studied fine art and graphic design from 1992 to 2001 at the University of Fine Arts in Braunschweig and at the Städelschule Frankfurt am Main with Johannes Brus , Georg Herold and Heimo Zobernig . Since then she has exhibited her works internationally. From 2001 to 2014 she was a board member of the New Art Association Aschaffenburg and curated art exhibitions.

Since 2008 she has been a (founding) member of the artist group "Bettine", which has developed a collaborative drawing principle and publishes a joint work every year. The name "Bettine" is borrowed from Bettine von Arnim , as the group's first joint work in the Künstlerhaus Schloss Wiepersdorf , the former residence of von Arnims, was dedicated to the life and work of this personality of German Romanticism.

From 2012 to 2015, she completed a doctorate in art philosophy at the University of Applied Arts in Vienna on collaborative drawing as a means for social design with Marion Elias with distinction.

Stephanie Guse lives and works in Vienna .

Since 2011, Guse has been developing its own digital collage technique for staged photography in order to recreate old master portraits using set pieces made from consumer goods and packaging material.

Guse's artistic research emerged from the experiences with collaboration and collage , which positions art as a cross-disciplinary communication method in the midst of the sciences. She explores the possibilities of science communication and transfer through collaborative drawing with scientific researchers, for which she has developed her own method, "Thinking Hands".
