Stern Fotografie (own spelling: stern FOTOGRAFIE) was a special interest magazine which, in its own words, was aimed “at photographers and photography enthusiasts with a sense of the great expressiveness of the still image”. In each issue, the magazine featured one of the world's most famous photographers. From 1996 to 2014 there were four issues a year.

The magazine was a line extension of the magazine stern . Most recently, the chief editor was the stern Art Director Johannes Erler.

The magazine was initially available as a booklet in A3 format. From issue no. 51, however, stern Photography was available as hardcover. "The notebook becomes a book that stands upright on the shelf."

The edition was limited to 10,000 pieces per issue. The copies were numbered consecutively.
