Stone Sour is the debut album by the rock band Stone Sour of the same name .
History of origin
After the band was formed in 1992, some demos were recorded. The project was shut down again in 1997 when singer Corey Taylor joined Slipknot . Josh Rand and James Root, who also joined Slipknot, had worked out material at the beginning of the new millennium and thus revived the band. Together they wrote 14 songs and recorded some demo tapes again. Soon after, a recording contract was signed with Roadrunner Records and the album was recorded. Before the album was released, however, the band performed under different names until they agreed on the name "Stone Sour".
Get Inside was released as the first single . The song was nominated for a Grammy Award in 2003 for Best Metal Performance . However, the award went to Korn for Here to Stay . The second single was Bother on March 3, 2003 , which was the only piece written by Taylor alone. The third and final single was Inhale . The song was released on July 7, 2003. In 2004 the piece was also nominated for a Grammy in the category Best Metal Performance . This time the song Metallicas St. Anger had to admit defeat. In 2003 the album received a gold record in the USA. Four years later it got silver in Great Britain.
reception
Michael Edele from Laut.de spoke of a successful debut. Even if some of the songs aren't bubbling with innovation, he said the album had some good songs to offer. It awarded three out of five stars. In Rock Hard , however, Marcus Schleutermann said that the album would become a "monotonous affair" in the long run and only occasionally make one sit up and take notice. The rating was 6.5 out of 10 points.
