The Strela is a mountain between the tourist resorts of Davos and Arosa in the canton of Graubünden in Switzerland at an altitude of 2636  m above sea level. M. The name Strela is derived from the Latin striga or from the Rhaeto-Romanic stria ( witch ).

Location and surroundings

The Strela is a ridge between the Strelapass and the Chüpfenflue and belongs to the Strela chain , a mountain range of the plural Alps . The municipal boundary between Davos and Arosa runs above the summit . The Strela is bordered in the north by the high valley Sapün , a side valley of the Schanfigg , in the south-east by the Steintälli and in the south-west by the Vorder Latschüel (both Landwassertal ). The southeast ridge separates the hollows from Steintälli and Vorder Latschüel. In the north the terrain drops into a steep wall, in the south-east the mountain is overgrown with grass, interspersed with individual rubble and rock zones.

The neighboring peaks include the Haupter Horn , the Schiahorn and the Chüpfenflue .

The valley locations are Davos, Arosa and Langwies .

On the slope of the Strelaberg, above Davos, is the Schatzalp , known from Thomas Mann's novel Zauberberg .
