Sungurlu is a city and a district in the Turkish province of Çorum . The city is located about 70 kilometers southwest of the provincial capital Çorum on the connection road from Ankara to Samsun . The city of Sungurlu is located on the Budaközü Çayı River , a tributary of the Delice Irmağı , which in turn flows into the Kızılırmak . It is home to almost two thirds of the district's population (2018: 63.5%).

The district is located in the southwest of the province. It is bordered by the Yozgat Province to the south, the Kırıkkale Province to the west, the Çankırı Province to the northwest , the Bayat , Uğurludağ counties and the central district to the north and the Alaca and Boğazkale counties to the east . The district is the second largest in the province and is also in second place in terms of population. The population density is below the provincial average (43 inhabitants per km²).
In addition to the district town, the district also consists of 109 villages ( Köy ) with an average of 165 residents. Arifegazili is the largest village with 1,320 inhabitants. The village of Cevheri became a mahall of the district town in 2018 (2018: population 248).
