Sunny Side Up (alternative title: Have sun in my heart ) is an American film musical by David Butler from 1929 with the popular screen couple Janet Gaynor and Charles Farrell in their first sound film .

Molly lives with her friend Bea in a small apartment in New York. Molly and Jack meet at an Independence Day celebration . The two arrange to meet at his property, which Jane, his fiancée, displeases. After further meetings, the two get closer and become a couple.

The film recordings were made in Pebble Beach , among others . For the screen couple Janet Gaynor and Charles Farrell it was the fourth joint work and the first joint sound film . Furthermore, it is their first film role in which they sang and danced in front of the camera.

The film was presented at its premiere on October 3, 1929 at the Gaiety Theater by William Fox and grossed a total of 3.3 million US dollars.

Mordaunt Hall of the New York Times found the cinematic implementation as "amusing" and "well developed" . She also rated the acting performances of Gaynor and Farrell as "brilliant" .
