Tür an Tür is a German television film by Matthias Steurer from 2013 , which was produced on behalf of and for Das Erste . The main roles act Thekla Carola Wied and Tanja Wedhorn , in carrying rollers Uwe Friedrichsen and Bernhard Shir .

The first wrote at the start of the film: “Matthias Steurer, director of subtle entertainment films such as ' Zimtstern und Halbmond ', tells in 'Door to Door' about the friendship of two women who are contradicting in every respect and who are embodied by Thekla Carola Wied and Tanja Wedhorn . He succeeded in making a few pointed swipes at modern city life and relationships and at the role clichés of old and young. ”“ Humorous and empathetic ”, the film tells“ the story of an unusual friendship between women ”.

action

The architect Sophie Mehnert, who has just rented a very nice old tree apartment in Oldenburg, is in good spirits that the chief doctor Martin Ahlers will move in with her. Ahlers is still married, however. With reference to his little daughter, he repeatedly delayed the supposedly imminent separation. On the same day, Sophie was given a permanent position, which she found pleasant, in the architecture office in which she had previously only worked loosely.

Hannah Weller, a very stubborn elderly lady, lives in Sophie's apartment across the street. She has a heart condition and is unable to walk. Hannah decides to take part in a pilot project for seniors, which is able to evaluate data and monitor how her health is, whether she has taken her medication or whether she is in any dangerous situation. At the same time, Hannah is acquiring computer skills in an accompanying course. There she met the pensioner Friedrich Seliger, who countered her pointed remarks with patient composure.

After Sophie had an argument with Martin, she asked Hannah to let her briefly in her apartment to look for her key in her pocket. She loses a stick that Hannah finds after Sophie's departure. With her newly acquired knowledge, she can log into Sophie's email account. She only does this, however, because she senses that something is wrong between Sophie and the man with whom she wanted to move into the apartment and is sure that he is one of the kind of men who do not follow their words to let. In the following time she tries to make Sophie think by telling her that her daughter is in a relationship with a man who makes her believe that he will separate from his family, which will probably never happen. And in response to Sophie's objection, maybe it was love, maybe for her, maybe not for him, otherwise he would be with her.

After researching Martin Ahlers on the Internet, Hannah decides to visit him as a patient. She also confronts the neurologist with the problems her daughter allegedly has, and puts the doctor quite hard. Only a little later, he lets Sophie know that he will put his separation plans on hold for now, as the whole situation is too stressful for him at the moment. At some point he would part with his wife, maybe in three months, maybe in three years, he just doesn't know, but he loves her and doesn't want to lose her. After this conversation, Sophie has a chat with Hannah. Hannah is very good at making Sophie think.

By chance it comes out that Hannah has logged into Sophie's e-mail account and that she has no daughter at all. Sophie is incredibly angry and doesn't want anything more to do with Hannah. With some difficulty, however, the old lady manages to get Sophie to listen to her for at least five minutes. Hannah says that she wanted Sophie not to feel the way she did. Forty years ago she was in the same situation as Sophie is today, she waited for years, she wanted to have children, but he didn't have one further wanted as long as his circumstances are not clarified. So she didn't have a child. After he finally decided to stay with his family, they never married again and always lived alone. When Sophie asks what she should do now, Hannah says that stories could turn out differently, maybe what she hopes will come true.

After Sophie has drawn a line under the relationship with Martin, she can finally work freely again and presents her boss with a draft model, the concept of which is based on the fact that old and young people can live together but at the same time maintain their own privacy . Sophie's boss is extremely impressed by this, after the drafts she had previously submitted made him doubt whether he had made the right decision with Sophie's attitude. A discussion and friendship ensued between Hannah and Sophie. The two women want to spend the approaching Christmas Eve together. Sophie has already got a large fir tree to be decorated with real candles.

criticism

The critics of the television magazine TV Spielfilm wrote: “The actors often speak aloud to themselves to explain things that the drama could also have portrayed on film. Interesting: the computer-aided senior citizen care system. ”The film received one of three possible points for humor and excitement and an average rating by showing the thumb to the side. The conclusion was: "From woman to woman: thoughtful to sedate"

Rainer Tittelbach gave the film three out of six possible stars on his website tittelbach.tv and summarized his assessment as follows: “One is grumpy, grumpy and old, the other friendly, optimistic and young. Soon they are both alone - and they get closer; after all, they live next door to one another. Alone in old age, a good topic for the ARD Friday film. The message, technology and the internet are okay too, but direct communication is more genuine, more honest, better, there is nothing wrong with it. Unfortunately, “Door to Door” does without the authenticity that the story praises before Christmas. The situations do not seem taken from life, but thought out and 'made'. The film gives examples of life, but it doesn't tell. All of this is concisely reflected in the disguise of the wrongly cast Thekla Carola Wied. "Wied appears to be" disguised from the start, her game, her mask, but above all her walking disability "have" more of a comedy sketch than a television film with realistic aspirations - the 69-year-old "was" a wrong choice ", she was too young to be a 78-year-old.

Tilmann P. Gangloff took on the film for evangelisch.de and said that screenwriter Nina Bohlmann cleverly combined two basically completely different stories and thus created a third one. Here, too, Matthias Steurer leads the two main actresses to performances well worth seeing, although Thekla Carola Wied has by far the best dialogues thanks to Hannah's malice.
