The Technical University of Wroclaw ( Polish Politechnika Wrocławska , English Wroclaw University of Science and Technology (WUST) ) is a Technical University in Wroclaw founded in 1910 .
The Technical University of Wroclaw was founded in 1910. After the conquest of Wroclaw by the Red Army and the handover of the city to Poland, the formerly German University of Wroclaw and the Technical University were converted into universities of the Polish state on August 24, 1945 . With lectures by the Polish professors Ludwik Hirszfeld and Kazimierz Idaszewski , teaching was resumed on November 15 of the same year. This day is also celebrated as the official reopening.
The university currently has about 32,000 students; around 20% of them are distance students . With around 4,200 employees, the TU Breslau is the city's largest employer. Around 160 of the employees are employed as professors , around 1,650 have the title of doctor (including around 250 with a completed habilitation ).
The university has 14 student residences with around 4,000 beds.
In 2001 the German-Polish Society of the University of Wroclaw (Breslau) e. V. founded with the aim of international understanding and knowledge transfer. This society includes all the universities in the city of Wroclaw: University, Pontifical Theological Faculty, Medical Academy, Technical University, Schools of Economics, Agriculture, Sports, Music and Art.

Neisse University
In 2001, the Neisse University was founded in cooperation with the Technical University of Liberec in the Czech Republic and the Zittau / Görlitz University of Applied Sciences for Technology, Economics and Social Work in Germany . The conception of Neisse University is based on studying in a real linguistic, cultural, scientific and economic environment. Students and teachers from three countries are involved in it.
Cooperations
Since 2008, a joint international Master’s degree in Information Technology has been operated with the Ostwestfalen-Lippe University in Lemgo .

- Kurt Lüer (1863-1946), tar - chemist and inventor . The “initiator of tar and asphalt road construction on German country roads” was made an honorary senator of the TH Breslau in 1935.
