Tamara Mascara is an Austrian DJ , fashion designer , presenter and one of the most famous drag queens in Austria.

Career

Mascara started her career as a DJ in the legendary Heaven Vienna . She is also co-organizer and co-founder of The Circus , the largest LGBT party in Austria, which has been held several times a year since 2011.

In 2014 she was part of the team around Conchita Wurst as a make-up artist at the 59th Eurovision Song Contest in Copenhagen , who also won the competition. It was also part of the Austrian "postcard", a feed that presented the respective country before the performance.

She has been running a YouTube channel since the end of 2016 , on which she regularly publishes videos on the subjects of make-up and drag.

As a testimonial for an open and LGBT-friendly Vienna, Mascara, in cooperation with WienTourismus , travels to cities and Pride parades such as Tokyo and Rome around the world .

For Renault Austria's content campaign for their crossover models, Mascara was portrayed by the Viennese directing duo Apesframed .

In Mara Mattuschka's queer drama Phaidros she took on the role of Madame Oh.

Mascara moderates many events, such as the rose ball , the LGBT street festival Andersrum is not wrong or the annual Miss Pride election on the rainbow parade . In addition to Hanno Settele , she moderated Setteles encore , the after-show talk for the Eurovision Song Contest 2019 on ORF 1 .

Mascara is the main testimonial for the Austrian version of Sprites Stay Fresh advertising, an international campaign against bullying and hatred on the Internet. The campaign also supports advice on wire and a social project.

2020 is a mascara candidate in the 13th season of the ORF dance show Dancing Stars . She is the first drag queen in the German-speaking region and only the second worldwide, after Courtney Act , to take part in a version of the BBC broadcast Strictly Come Dancing . In May 2020 she commented on the Free European Song Contest on Puls 24 together with Dori Bauer and Patrick Fux .
