Treasure finds from Tamse

The first treasure found in Tamse dates back to the 19th century. At that time 34 bronze pieces of a bowl were found, which presumably came from Germany.

In 1967 a schoolboy found a silver treasure consisting of 440 coins and two pieces of jewelry. The oldest coin was minted in Cologne between 1027 and 1036. The remaining coins date from the period 1158 to 1205. In addition, 343 bracteates or half-bracteates were found, which were made in Sweden under the reign of King Canute I (1167–1196). The treasure was probably buried in Tamse in the 12th or 13th century.
