geography
Tanaina CDP is north of Wasilla between Meadow Lakes and Fishhook in the Matanuska - Susitna Valley. The area includes housing developments west of Wasilla-Fishhook Road. The nearby Tanaina Peak was named after the local indigenous Dena'ina- Athabascans in 1966 .
history
Around 1906 the Carle Wagon Road was built, which served as a thoroughfare to the gold mines of the Willow Creek Mining District. The Carle Wagon Road was later renamed Wasilla-Fishhook Road.
