The new ballpark opened on April 12, 2010 (with a 5-2 win over the Boston Red Sox). The Target Field is the sixth arena in the history of the franchise . The Twins last played at the Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome from 1982 to 2009 .

Target Field is the sixth Twins / Senators baseball field and third in the Minnesota franchise. The Twins had played 28 seasons at the Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome and 21 seasons before that at the Metropolitan Stadium . The Twins shared both stadiums with the Minnesota Vikings . The University of Minnesota football team also played in the Metrodome .
